We’re veterans of 40 years of travel to 40+ countries and we’ve found an easy answer to stay healthy on the road: Take a homeopathic travel kit! A few tiny granules of the right homeopathic remedy and you’ll be back on your feet and on the road within hours or days. Take it from us: The Savvy Travel Docs!

Homeopathic Travel Kits

Why is a homeopathic kit ideal for travel? The kit is light and compact. The remedies are completely natural, easy to use, and without side effects. You can learn quickly and easily how to use them for which condition(s). And they are safe even for pregnant moms, babies, and your pets.

Homeopathy has been around for nearly 200 years. It is used in many countries throughout the world for first aid and acute conditions as well as chronic health problems. Next time you suffer a fall, sprain, bruise, burn, or sunburn, reach for a homeopathic medicine rather than an over-the-counter or prescription drug. You will be amazed at the results. The same is true for minor illnesses like colds, flu, earaches and bladder infections.

IMAGE kit-and-bookTo learn quickly which remedy to use when, take a look at our popular book, Homeopathic Self-Care: The Quick and Easy Guide for the Whole Family, or our latest book, The Savvy Traveler’s Guide to Homeopathy and Natural Medicine: How to Stay Healthy Wherever You Go! Our “Look, Listen and Ask format makes selecting remedies as easy as 1-2-3! These two books contain all the information you will need to self-treat successfully with homeopathy.
These books are great, but do take a kit on your travels or keep one handy at home or in your car! Some countries in the world, such as England, France, the Netherlands, Germany, India, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and other Latin American countries do have homeopathic doctors and pharmacies selling homeopathic remedies, at least in the larger cities. But the best plan, by far is to take a kit with you. Ours, for example, contains the fifty most common remedies for treating acute illnesses and first-aid conditions, in a small, one-pound bullet-box kit. Don’t leave home without it!

Turista and Food Poisoning

Who hasn’t experienced at least one bout of turista, also euphemistically called the runs, Montezuma’s revenge, Delhi belly, or the Tiki trots, among many other not so affectionate names. Abdominal cramps and loose, watery, foul-smelling diarrhea will ruin just about anybody’s appetite. Not to mention being stuck in bed for two or three days feeling awful while your travel buddies are off living it up! After nine or ten trips to India, one to Mexico and a few trips to South America, Australia and New Zealand, we are veterans of the runs. Luckily, using homeopathy, you don’t have to know if it is bacteria, amoebas, giardia or food poisoning to treat it. Let your symptoms be your guide.

Podophyllum (May apple)

Our favorite remedy for traveler’s diarrhea! Judyth, while hiking the gorgeous Milford Track in New Zealand, with hundreds of waterfalls pouring down the cliffs, was dealing with some pouring of her own out the rear exit. Our friendly guide had extolled the safety of the kiwi back-country water. A few unfortunate gulps from one of those beautiful streams and Judyth found herself with an apparent case of Giardia, or some other parasite. She was having profuse, forcible, explosively gushing stools. She started taking Podophyllum 30C from our kit every few hours and within a day she was totally okay and able to enjoy the marvelous hiking once more. Giardia is often cyclical and recurrent, yet she never had another episode in the months following the trip.

Arsenicum album (arsenic)

A good remedy for diarrhea, especially after midnight, with restlessness and anxiety. There may also be I vomiting, restlessness cramping and burning pains. It is commonly used for food poisoning. The person who needs this remedy tends to be chilly and extremely anxious about becoming extremely ill, or even dying.

Veratrum album (white hellebore)

For profuse, exhausting diarrhea with violent vomiting. The person is very chilly and sweaty. There is a strong craving for ice, cold drinks, salt, and sour fruit and pickles.

Bumps, Bruises and Accidents

Arnica Montana (Leopard’s Bane)

If you have tried homeopathy, surely you know about Arnica, the miracle medicine for bruises, shock and trauma from injuries and accidents. Giving Arnica as soon as possible following an injury or accident is often the best first aid, in addition to ice and other common first-aid measures.

The person feels sore and bruised, yet they often reject help, saying there is nothing wrong with them. They do want to lie down, but complain that the bed or ground feels too hard. Arnica is one of the best remedies for black eyes and any kind of blunt trauma. Once was standing on a bed in Mexico, attempting to adjust the top of some curtains. Unfortunately, he stepped bad into the ceiling fan, which clipped him in the head). Dazed and bruised, he hit the bed bleeding moaning in a state of shock. Judyth quickly gave him some Arnica, the bleeding stopped, and after a brief rest, he was able to enjoy going for a walk on the beach.

Ledum (marsh tea)

Commonly used for puncture wounds, and bruises that feel cold, yet the person prefers cold packs. It was known for helping prevent and treat tetanus in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, prior to the availability of immunization.

Hypericum ( St. John’s wort)

Great for puncture wounds as well as for injuries to the nerves, accompanied by shooting pains. Also for falls or injuries to the tailbone.

Bryonia (hops)

Helpful for injuries where the least motion causes severe pain and the person feels better by staying still.
Judyth had a kayaking accident in the Bay of Islands in New Zealand, resulting in a very bruised foot that was extremely painful whenever she tried to move it. Although Arnica helped at first, Bryonia was the remedy that made the most difference, and healed the bruise overnight, allowing her to paddle pain-free the next morning.
